8 July 2002; This is somewhere near Topaz Valley near Topaz Mountain in Juab county, western Utah. This is the first place I started looking for topaz but after hours of looking, I found none. It got too hot to stay so I left for Oak Creek Campground in the Canyon Range near Oak City, Utah. I returned here the next day and continued looking for topaz on the far west side of the range and on the far east side. I did find some topaz but mostly very small clear crystals. Later after reviewing some maps and directions to good digging sites I discovered that I was near good sites but missed them by a short distance. I hope to return some day for more fruitful digging.
