Most of the maps are still under construction!!! The only maps that work right now are:
< < Biscuit
< < Black Sand
< < Mammoth
Each year over three million people visit Yellowstone National Park. Many are photographers who bring home dozens of pictures, but I'll bet few of them take the time to record the names and locations of their subjects. I have dozens of unidentified slides of Yellowstone's thermal, and other, features.
I visited Yellowstone during September, 1999. I had a wonderful time - the weather was perfect and the traffic was not excessive. I brought with me a digital camera and a regular camera. Quite often the sign that identifies a thermal feature is not in the best position to be included in the picture. With the digital camera, I made sure to include the sign and a portion of each thermal feature. Hopefully, I would then be able to match the subject of my old unidentified slides, and any new ones, with the correct thermal feature.
The purpose of this web site is to show you my images, and where I took them, and hopefully to assist others in identifying their pictures of Yellowstone. Through the use of image maps, I lead the viewer to the location of a feature on a map, then display the image together with its name.
Begin by selecting the main map of Yellowstone from the list on the left side of the page. Or you can go directly to a map of a location within the park by selecting one of the other maps in the list. Then simply click on a small image, within a map, to display a larger image. At the bottom of the page below each image will be a link to return to the previous map. Click there to return to the map to select another image or click on any map name in the list on the left to go to the map of a different location. To return to this introduction page, click on either of the "Yellowstone images and illusions" images at the top of the page.
This web site does not attempt to provide any additional information (such as history, geology, camping, wildlife, etc.) about Yellowstone National Park. There are many web sites that provide this information. See my Yellowstone links page for a list of other Yellowstone sites. But first, please take a look at mine. And if you like this web site, please sign my guestbook. Thank you.
