TLC_Home Meal plan
And what food to bring to share.
  • The Love Camp is not a turnkey camp.
  • We encourage you to participate to make our camp great!
  • Participate means volunteer for whatever work needs to be done.
  • We encourage you to volunteer to cook food for others.
  • All campers are expected to contribute 12 volunteer hours in three 4-hour shifts while on Playa as part of participating in a theme camp.

If you are unable to contribute food to the camp, our camping fee of $200 includes outstanding dinner and breakfast meals from the day the event opens through the night of the Temple Burn.  We will also have a camp fee of $150 if you are willing to contribute food to share with the camp.  Vegetarian/Vegan options are also available at each meal and we promote a healthy menu.  Our kitchen operates like a family kitchen where everyone works together taking turns to prepare meals and clean up afterwards.  We will be buying core food in bulk this year and planning what food will be cooked ahead of time.  The camp fee will also allow us to pay for ice for coolers when we make ice runs so we will not have to ask for additional money for ice.  This accounts for the increased camp fee this year, but should ultimately save everyone money and increase food safety.  Each camper is also encouraged to bring an assortment of salad vegetables to make a salad big enough for ten people (this is because we build camp, days before the event opens and these type of vegetables cannot be frozen in advance).

Please bring enough water to drink (allow 2 gals per day per person - it's in the desert!) plus enough for the showers you intend to take and any additional water you can bring as a contribution to the camp would be very much appreciated.  Be sure to bring your own drinking water but please ask about the water, we might be bringing extra for everyone to use at the kitchen sink and the shower.

*** Please use Dr Bronner's bio degradable soap in the sink & shower ***
Please use plenty of soap when washing dishes, don't skimp on the soap. Excessive grease and oil in the pump may cause it to gum up and stop working. If working properly, the grey water disposal system that Jim-dandy has designed should not allow any grey water to spill on the playa surface. If you see this happening because of a failure of the pumps or the grey water tank overflowing please immediately stop using the grey water system and let Jim-dandy know about it so he can fix it.

We have one kitchen where we share the responsibility for keeping it clean and preparing food.  We intend to always have good healthy food prepared for breakfast and dinner so please be sure to contribute and volunteer appropriately.

Please take care of your own cooler (you can buy ice at Burning Man).  We have an area set aside for coolers if you want to share the food in them.  If you have food that you don't want to share then please keep it in a cooler in your own tent or vehicle.  Thank you.

We would like it if you helped us separate our trash into 1) recycling (like plastic), 2) large pieces of heavy, wet, compostable, food scraps (like watermelon rinds) that can be air dried in plastic netting bags, 3) dry burnable paper or cardboard (no plastic) and 4) all other garbage.

This year since will will be purchasing some of the main food items, like meat, and since we cannot freeze vegetables, we still need people to bring fresh vegetables and fresh fruit along with any meat items such as fish, chicken, etc (especially if you are arriving later in the week).

Please note: that we depend on all of you, all of our camping community for fresh food.  As people arrive through out the week, bringing fresh food with them.  This is how we are able to always have the freshest food such as our wonderful delicious salads, vegetables and etc, on the playa.  And this is for all of our benefit to enjoy good fresh quality food.
